Lack of Healthcare Claims Life of 20 Year Old Sailesh Rana, Snakebite Victim in Kalimpong’s Dalgaon
Kalimpong, May 31: A 20-year-old youth, Sailesh Rana, from Dalgaon in Kalimpong district tragically lost his life in the early hours of Thursday after being bitten by a snake. The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who allege that the lack of basic healthcare facilities in the region was a key factor in his untimely death.
According to villagers, Sailesh was bitten late at night, but due to the absence of a nearby healthcare center or emergency medical support, he could not receive timely treatment. Despite efforts to seek help, the delay proved fatal.
Local residents have strongly criticized the administration and political leadership for their negligence. “Had there been a functioning health center in the area, Sailesh’s life could have been saved,” said one of the villagers. They demanded immediate government intervention to improve healthcare infrastructure in rural areas like Dalgaon, warning that more lives could be at risk if such issues remain unaddressed.
The tragic incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for accessible and reliable medical services in remote parts of the Kalimpong district.
