Kalimpong Khabar News May 26, 2025 —
Dr. Harka Bahadur Chettri, former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Kalimpong, has formally requested permission to submit a memorandum to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India during his upcoming visit to the state of Sikkim. The request was made through an official letter dated May 19, 2025, and has been received by the Prime Minister’s Office on May 26, 2025.
In his letter, Dr. Chettri stated that he represents the likeminded common people of the Darjeeling and Kalimpong District and wishes to bring forward several pressing issues and concerns related to public welfare and regional matters. The memorandum, according to him, warrants the Prime Minister’s kind attention and intervention.
He has appealed to the Prime Minister’s Office to grant a few moments during the visit to Sikkim to personally receive the memorandum. Dr. Chettri assured that the submission would be made respectfully and concisely, in the spirit of democratic dialogue.
The move underscores growing local concerns in the Darjeeling and Kalimpong regions, and reflects ongoing efforts by regional leaders to engage directly with the central government to seek resolution to persistent issues.
