Nationwide Campaign ‘One Nation, One Mission: End Plastic Pollution Launched

Kalimpong Khabar News: New Delhi, May 24:

In a strong push towards sustainable living and environmental responsibility, the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has launched a nationwide campaign titled ‘One Nation, One Mission: End Plastic Pollution’ ahead of World Environment Day 2025, observed annually on June 5.

The campaign was officially launched by Union Environment Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav, who shared a pre-campaign video on social media urging citizens to shift from awareness to collective action. The initiative aligns with India’s flagship programme Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), promoting the theme “Say No to Single Use Plastic.”

Aimed at tackling the menace of plastic pollution, especially single-use plastics, the campaign seeks to raise awareness, reduce plastic waste generation, and promote the adoption of eco-friendly alternatives. It also encourages proper waste management practices including segregation, collection, disposal, and recycling.

Spanning across the nation, the campaign involves wide-scale participation from central ministries, state and UT governments, local bodies, educational institutions, industries, civil society organizations, and community groups.

The strategy includes a range of activities such as social media outreach, street plays (nukkad nataks), public pledges, clean-up drives, and educational events like poster competitions, webinars, and school exhibitions. Citizens and organizations are encouraged to document and upload their initiatives on the ‘Meri LiFE’ portal, contributing to a people-powered movement towards sustainable development.

With an emphasis on grassroots participation and innovative solutions, the Ministry has called upon every citizen to actively engage in the campaign and be a part of India’s mission to end plastic pollution and protect the planet
