Kolkata, May 30, 2025:
The West Bengal Central School Service Commission (WBSSC) has officially announced the 2nd State Level Selection Test (SLST), 2025, for the recruitment of Assistant Teachers in Government Aided/Sponsored Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools across the state.
This recruitment drive comes in accordance with the directives issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and is subject to the outcome of ongoing review petitions. The commission will conduct the SLST to fill vacancies for Assistant Teachers in classes IX–X (Secondary) and XI–XII (Higher Secondary).
Key Dates and Deadlines
Online application begins: June 16, 2025 (from 5:00 PM)
Last date to apply: July 14, 2025 (up to 5:00 PM)
Deadline for fee submission: July 14, 2025 (up to 11:59 PM)
Tentative date of written exam: First week of September 2025
Result publication (tentative): Fourth week of October 2025
Interviews: First to third week of November 2025
Panel publication: November 24, 2025
Counselling & recommendation: November 29, 2025 onward

Eligibility Criteria
For Classes IX–X, candidates must possess a Graduate or Postgraduate degree with at least 50% marks along with a B.Ed. from an NCTE-recognized institution, or a four-year B.A. Ed./B.Sc. Ed. degree.
For Classes XI–XII, the applicant must have a Postgraduate degree with at least 50% marks and a B.Ed. or B.A. Ed./B.Sc. Ed. qualification from an NCTE-recognized institution.
Candidates must be between 21 to 40 years of age as of January 1, 2025. Age relaxation will be applicable for SC, ST, OBC, and PH candidates in accordance with state norms.
Examination Fee
₹500 for General/OBC candidates
₹200 for SC/ST/PH candidates
The fees must be paid online, and no offline payment mode is accepted.
Selection Process
The selection will be conducted in three stages:
1. Written Examination
2. Evaluation of Academic Credentials
3. Oral Interview and Teaching Demonstration
The question papers (except for language subjects) will be set in both English and Bengali. Candidates can apply under any one medium of instruction.
Application Process
Interested and eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the Commission’s official website: www.westbengalssc.com. Admit cards for the exam will be available online at least seven days prior to the examination date.
Candidates are advised to verify their eligibility thoroughly before applying. The Commission has cautioned that appearing in the examination does not confer any automatic right to appointment.
